Abuja fans scare Yobo, saying we need support, not boos

Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo has told Nigerians not to expect entertaining football when the team take on Guinea in the last 2012 ANC qualifier against Guinea on Saturday.

Speaking after the team’s first training session, Yobo said, “given the importance of the match we are not going to play to entertain. We are all determined to beat Guinea and get the three points.”

Yobo also pleaded for support from Nigerians asking them to “come out enmasse and support the team.”

The Fernabache of Turkey defender, however, appealed for calm even when the going seem to be getting tough “We need continuos support, not boos. We don’t want to people to start the players when it becomes difficult. Football games are not meant to be one-sided. It is not going to be easy, it might get to the wire but fans must be patient because we are going to win.”

The Super Eagles skipper whose strike in Addis Ababa brought Nigeria 2-2 level with Ethiopia and revived country’s hope for the continental showpiece in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon said he would not hesitate to score if the opportunity came his way. “I have done that before. I will score again if the chance comes my way.”

Yobo promised Nigerians a new Super Eagles with a new determination and a new spirit. “We are coming out with one spirit; to win and grab the ticket to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.”
