“Al-Qaeda operative” declared wanted for UN building blast

“The DSS gave the name of the suspect as Mamman Nur, and added that he has links with global terrorist group, Al-Qaeda.”

The Department of State Services (DSS) has declared a suspect, Mamman Nur, wanted in connection with last Friday’s bombing of the United Nations’ compound in Abuja. Mr. Nur is believed to be the brains behind the operation. The DSS also said that it believed that Mr. Nur has links with Al-Qaeda, the glabal Islamist terrorist group.

A statement made public a few minutes ago by the DSS reads in part, “Investigations have revealed that one Mamman Nur, a notorious Boko Haram element with al Qaeda links who returned recently from Somalia, working in concert with two suspects masterminded the attack on the United Nations building in Abuja.”

“We implore … the general public to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of Mamman Nur, who is hereby declared wanted.”

Last week’s attack was one of the worst on the United Nations in it’s 56 year history. Twenty-three people have been confirmed dead, and seventy-six are injured, which makes this attack deadlier than the blast at the UN’s Baghdad, Iraq’s offices in 2003 which killed 22 people.
