THE Anambra State government said it would commence the audit of all the shops and stores in the various markets in the state from next week to restore sanity in the markets.
Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Robert Okonkwo, who disclosed this yesterday after a meeting with leaders of markets unions drawn from the Amalgamated Markets Traders Association of Anambra State (AMATAS), also announced that government has banned the collection of illegal levies in all the markets.
Fielding questions from journalists, the Commissioner said that the exercise would be carried out methodologically, adding that it would also be free of any charge.
He stated that the exercise to be carried out in all the markets would involve experts, including consultants who would key in data.
