A tragic incident occurred yesterday at Ungwar Laraba Village in Gwaram Council of Jigawa State as 20-year-old Yusuf Mamman killed his father over a disagreement.
Narrating the incident to The Guardian, a neighbour of the deceased, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was still in shock over the incident.
According to the eye-witness: “The late Mamman Dan Alhaji had asked his son to bring millet from his barn and the boy refused. The boy’s father, however, reprimanded him for being disobedient. The boy, who was so infuriated because of his father’s rebuke, went inside his room, brought out a cutlass and matcheted his father to death. The man died before we could take him to the hospital”.
The Jigawa State Police Spokesman, Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident, saying: “This morning, we got a report of homicide in Gwaram Local Council Area where a boy used cutlass to matchet his father to death. The boy cut his father in the head, face and throat. The man died instantly. The boy is now in our custody”.
