YENAGOA — Tragedy struck, Sunday, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, when a trigger-happy police shot dead a middle-aged man. This sort of Nigeria police brutality should never be over-looked.
The tragic incident, it was learnt, occurred at about 1.30pm along Sani Abacha Expressway at the Amarata suburb of Yenagoa. It was learnt that the deceased was returning home from a church service aboard a commercial motorbike (Okada). The Okada rider was flagged down by the policeman at a checkpoint and an argument ensued prompting the passenger to disembark.
He was said to be walking away when the trigger-happy cop shot him from behind, killing him on the spot.
Meanwhile, two suspected armed robbers were, yesterday, was set ablaze by an angry mob along Airport Road, close to Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Delta State.
Vanguard gathered that the bandits, who rode on a motorbike, had snatched a lady’s handbag at about 7:30am along Airport Road.
The victim raised alarm which attracted passers-by, including commercial motorbike riders (Okada), who quickly blocked the thieves from escaping with their loot.
The bandits were beaten up before they were set ablaze.
