Federation Cup: Heartland in Lagos to fight – Ndubuoke

Enyimba enjoy one advantage over Heartland as both teams prepare for the F A Cup final this weekend in Lagos.

Nigerian league has been on break for weeks and Heartland have busied themselves training without going through match situations lately.

They have suffered the confusion that has become the Nigerian league. Enyimba would have faced the same music but they are playing in the continent and have just qualified for the semifinal of the CAF Champions League.

That has put them in a better stead for the FA Cup final in terms of match fitness. General Manager of Heartland, Fan Ndubuoke, admits this fact but says there’s something he sees in his players that could make a difference.

“The determination I see in the players is unbelievable,” Ndubuoke, a one time President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, said
Heartland arrived Lagos Tuesday, the same day that Enyimba arrived. Lagos State and the Football Federation, we gathered, have planned big for a grand finale.

It will be an event that has the touch of Governor Tunde Fashola. Ndubuoke said further:

“ Training sessions are like matches. Everybody wants to play in that Cup final.

The day that they were meant to leave for Lagos, everybody came out before 6 am. You see determination on their faces and you feel confident. They are in Lagos to fight.

The Cup means a lot for them, for the government and people of Imo State. We have had rough times with the league and winning the FA Cup will make up for what we suffered during the season. Winning it will be something even our critics will admire, so we will give it our greatest shot.”

Felix Anyansi Agwu who calls the shots at Enyimba feels that experience will win it for the Aba side and admits that his aside are in a better shape to lift the trophy.
