Gov. Wike Sends Mopol To Recover Cars From Amaechi Loyalists

The Rivers state police command has reportedly recovered 10 government-owned vehicles looted from the state’s Government House.

According to the state government, the recovered vehicles include one Coaster bus, two Nissan Urvan buses, two Higer vehicles, one Land Cruiser, one Toyota Hilux Pick-up, one Peugeot 607 Saloon car and two Peugeot 406 cars.

The vehicles were recovered from Rumuokparali and Trans-Amadi in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.

The state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, on assuming duty alleged huge looting of government property and facilities by the past administration.

The governor vowed that all who criminally obtained government property will be prosecuted.

The statement said police are currently interrogating those found at the location where the vehicles were recovered.

Speaking on the development, the state police spokesman, Ahmad Mohammad, said the command received information about the location of the vehicles.

“Acting on information that some suspected vehicles belonging to the Rivers State Government were seen parked in unauthorized yards, the command recovered three Coaster buses, two 306 Peugeot, two Hummer buses and one 306 Peugeot,”  he said.

Mohammad said investigation was ongoing to recover more stolen vehicles and property removed without authorisation from the Government House.

Meanwhile, Wike has relieved the state’s Independent Electoral Commission chairman of his duties as well as members of the state’s Judiciary Service Commission and its secretary.
