Govt on trail of abductors of Lagos LG chairman – Commissioner

Lagos State government has confirmed that it is in touch with some men suspected to have abducted the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan.
The Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr Ademorin Kuye, who paid a visit to the council said security operatives are already on the trail of the abductors. He assured that
the abductors would soon be rounded up.
The council secretary Mr Remi Gbadegesin had earlier confirmed to our correspondent that the chairman had phoned his wife Fatimah Bamigbetan just before dawn and his abductors had demanded a ransom of $1million (about N160 million).
A source at the council who craved anonymity said the Commissioner later addressed top management officers of the council and ordered that they should henceforth stop speaking to reporters on the issue.
The Commissioner said the order became necessary in order to allow the security operatives do their job without any undue interference.
