How Jonathan And EFCC Tried To Destroy Sylva’s Political Career

Doifie Buokoribo, a media aide to former governor of Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva, has reacted to the decision of a federal high court in Abuja to dismiss a 42-count charge against his boss.

According to Buokoribo, the dismissal of the fraud cases against Sylva has vindicated the ex-governor. He said the court’s decision is a clear indication that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was trying to frustrate the political life of the former governor, Premium Times reports.

Yesterday, the Judge, Ahmed Ramat Mohammed, stroke out the charge which was brought before it against Sylva by the EFCC, citing that the case constituted an abuse of court process.

The former governor was charged for allegedly siphoning about N19.2bn from the state’s treasury using three companies. According to the EFCC the fraud was committed between 2009 and 2012 when he was still the governor.

The EFCC said its decision to add to the charges against Sylva does not mean it is not following due court process adding that, the dismissal does not stop the court from bringing new and fresh charges against him.

Sylvia, had earlier stated that former president, Goodluck Jonathan, is a great betrayer.
