Igbinedion varsity gets COREN’s accreditation

FULL accreditation has been granted the Petroleum Engineering programme of the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

COREN’s approval followed the university’s success in the accreditation exercise the engineering body conducted in May 2012.

In a letter dated June 29, 2012 and signed by its Registrar, Felix Atume, to the institution’s vice chancellor, COREN said the accreditation is valid for five years and takes effect from May 2012.

The accreditation of Petroleum Engineering, which is the youngest programme in the General Abdulsalami Abubakar College of Engineering, completes the cycle of full accreditation for all engineering programmes in the university.

The others are chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical/electronics engineering and mechanical engineering. They had earlier obtained full accreditation in 2009 and 2010.
