Federal Capital Territory High Court remanded Aminu Abubakar, the former chairman of Goodluck Support Group, and Geoffrey Okechukwu allegedly involved in blackmail.

According to Daily Trust, two top campaigners who worked with Nigeria’s immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, were arraigned on June 9, Tuesday, by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

Now they face three-count charge of conspiracy and extortion. The officials are accused of threatening to some members of the Ministry of Petroleum with publication of indicting documents, if they refused to pay  N25million.

However, the suspects pleaded not guilty.

Counsel to the accused persons, E. A. Egbebu, filed a motion to challenge the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter, This Day adds. But George Lawal, the prosecution counsel objected to the application explaining that it was premature.

Justice Ishaq Bello rejected the defence’s argument that the court should hear the motion challenging jurisdiction before the accused persons take their plea and adjourned the hearing to July 9.
