Legal Trend: Court convicts Nigerian man for having sex with Goat

“The accused is to pay the owner of the goat a N20,000 fee.” 

The Bauchi Chief Magist-rate’s Court 8, has convicted Nasiru Ishaku of Nassarawa quarters, Bauchi to 6 months imprisonment for having sex with a female goat. 

Nasiru was arraigned be-fore the court by police prosecutor Abdul Ishaku, who charged him with unnatural offence, mischief by maiming animal, offences contrary to Sections 330, 284 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor told the court that Nasiru had sex with a female goat belonging to one Mallam Bala of Federal low cost, and that as a result of the incident, the animal became useless. He said the animal was valued at N20,000.

Chief Magistrate Isa Mo-hammed asked the accused if he understood the charges against him, and he answered in the affirmative and confessed to the crime. He urged the court to temper justice with mercy since he is a first offender.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Isah Mohammed ordered the accused to pay the owner of the goat N20,000 and also sentenced him to six months in prison with an option of N5,000 fine.
