Man bags 2 months for stealing wheel barrow

A Zuba Grade 1 Area Court on Tuesday sentenced Yohanna Bitrus, 21, to two months in prison for stealing a wheelbarrow.

Alhassan Kusherki, the presiding officer, passed the sentence on Bitrus after he pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of theft.

Kusherki, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N5,000.

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Momoh Ibrahim, told the court that on Aug. 28, Mohammed Yakubu of Zuba Yam Market, FCT, reported the case at Zuba police station on the same date the convict stole the wheel barrow from the market, where he was caught.

Ibrahim said that during police investigation the wheelbarrow was recovered from  Bitrus.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.  (NAN)
