Man in court for stealing N1.2million belonging to The Nation Newspapers

OWERRI – Imo State Police Command has arraigned one Mr. Olayiwola Elijah before an Owerri Senior Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.270 million belonging to The Nation Newspapers.

According to the charge, OW/423C/2011, Mr. Eliah allegedly committed the crime between July 2010 and June 2011, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. 2 Laws of Eastern Nigeria 1963, as applicable to Imo State of Nigeria.

The charge read: “That you, Olayiwola Elijah from the month of July 2010 to the month of June 2011, at The Nations Newspaper, 15 Rotibi Street, Owerri, in Owerri Magisterial District, did steal the sum of N1,270,000 cash, property of your employer, The Nations Newspaper.”

Elijah pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mr. V.A.C. Oguoma, on strict terms. The  matter was adjourned to November 21, 2011.
