Nigeria establishes 492 centres for HIV/AIDS treatment

NIGERIA currently has 492 treatment centres for persons living with HIV/AIDS across all the geopolitical zones of the federation.

This was revealed by the Assistant Director, HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care in the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Emeka Asadu, during clinical mentoring for doctors engaged in the treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS held in Abuja.

The event was organised by the Federal Ministry of Health in conjunction with the Institute of Human Virology.

Asadu said the mentoring was ongoing and was aimed at ensuring that persons living with HIV/AIDS had access to high quality HIV treatment by continually strengthening the capacity of health workers to offer qualified HIV treatment.

The Chief of Party of the Institute of Human Virology (IHVN), Dr. Patrick Dakum, said at the occasion that it underlined government’s commitment to the well-being of persons living with HIV/AIDS.
