THE Police in Edo State have commenced investigations into the death of two persons in separate hotels in Benin City, Edo State capital, on Boxing Day.
A middle-aged man identified as Dezie Okhuomose was found dead in his hotel room (name withheld) three days after he checked into the hotel and a 16-year-old Eghosa Osagie drowned at a swimming pool in a relaxation centre, Naomi’s Garden.
The Guardian gathered that investigations had begun into the two separate deaths in the state capital.
The remains of Okhuomose have been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital Mortuary. Police sources said there were no marks of violence found on the deceased’s body.
Eghosa and some of his friends were reportedly at Naomi’s Garden for the Christmas celebrations where he went to the pool for a swim.
A member of staff at Naomi’s, Cletus Ogidi, confirmed the incident, saying it happened when a lifeguard at the poolside went away briefly.
“The swimming pool is measured. We have our rules but he went to a deep place”, Ogidi added.
