Police rescue Pilipino, five Nigerians from kidnappers

Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Police Command says it has rescued a Pilipino and five Nigerians from kidnappers at Elele, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers state in the early hours of Thursday.

The Commands spokesman, Mr  Ben Ugwuegbulam, in Port Harcourt on Friday said that a combined team of the Police, Army and State Security Service (SSS)stormed the kidnappers dean to free the victims.

The Pilipino, Mr Ionescu Adrian, and a Nigerian, both engineers of Sewa Nigeria Limited, were working for the federal government’s National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) when they were abducted on Sept. 28 at Elele.

Following a tip off, the security team stormed the hide out and rescued the victims and four other victims were also rescued by during the raid, he explained.

He two suspects were arrested and are already helping the police to get other fleeing members of the gang.

A spokesman to the 2 brigade of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Aminu Iliyasu, told NAN that soldiers from the brigade took part in the rescue.

He said all freed persons were in good condition and were with the police.
