The governor, in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Idowu Adelusi, urged Muslims to use the period to offer prayers to Allah for the peaceful co-existence of the country.

He also urged those of the Muslim faith to support and adhere to the teachings of Islamic scholars.

Fayose said Prophet Muhammad, described Ramadan fasting as a way to avoid vices noting that Muslims should use the period to pray for peace and progress in the country.

The statement read:“Fasting as one of the five pillars of Islam should not be just a period for abstaining from food and drink, the period should also be used to make greater sacrifice by praying fervently for the country.”
