STF Embarks On Peace Tour In Plateau
The Commander, Special Task Force (STF), Operation Safe Haven, Major-General Henry Ayoola, has said that time has come when everybody should be concerned about finding lasting solutions to the challenges that are confronting the residents of Plateau State.
Ayoola, while speaking at the end of peace tour of Jos South local government council, organised by STF, said that if people were so concerned and could do that much in the state, the rest of us have no excuse not to follow their footsteps to eschew all forms of violence.
“We should drop unfounded rumours and follow the path of truth and allow peace to reign,” he said.
Urging all the stakeholders to put behind them everything that has to do with old wounds, he advised them to forget whatever happened in the past and find ways and suggestions to lasting peace on Plateau.
He told the gathering that the whole world was looking at Plateau to chart a new course.
“We should resolve to move forward. Those of you here today should go back and tell those at home that we have resolved that ‘enough is enough.’ Our elders have agreed that no more fighting, no more violence, no more reprisal attacks, no more silent killings. Let us live together the way we used to live together in the past,” Ayoola stressed.
In his remark, the Gbong Gwon Jos, Da Jocob Gyang Buba, thanked God that they were able to make it to the venue with a sincerity of purpose, adding that the people should desire peace, and that the security agencies could only restore law and order but could not bring about peace, which, according to him, lies in individuals.
