What Anambra Rep Has To Say About Gov Obiano’s Defection To APC

Hon Peter Obiano Madubueze, Anambra East/West representative has reacted to speculations that the governor of the state, Willie Obiano is planning to dump his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), for the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Madubueze said Gov Obiano had no plans of dumping his party.

The honourable made this known while briefing journalists in Abuja, Leadership reports.

According to him, the governor was only supporting the APC-led federal government as they have decided to support the government in power for the good of the state.

He explained that Obiano was willing to work and had demonstrated this by transforming Awka, the state capital, into one of the best state capitals in Nigeria.

Madubueze added that the governor has made the security of lives and property of the people in the state a priority.

He said one of the strategies the governor was using to achieve this was destroying the hideouts and buildings of kidnappers and criminals in the state, turning the once turbulent state  into a home of peace and progress for the people.

Madubueze, who emerged an honourable on the platform of APGA said his mission to the National Assembly was to help his constituency.

He stated that he was committed to fulfilling the campaign promises he made to them, adding that he would focus on assisting them via agriculture policies and interventions.

In April, Obiano had paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari. This sparked speculations that he was planning to defect to the APC from the APGA on whose platform he was elected. He had dismissed the speculations saying he was still in APGA but would work with Buhari.

Following his visit, a socio-political pressure group known as Maka Odinma Anambra had cautioned the president to be wary of the governor’s antics.
