Why Rivers Will Always Remain A PDP State – Governor Wike

Rivers State Gov­ernor, Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Par­ty (PDP) administration in the state will remain because the party is backed by the people.

Speaking to members of the Delta state house of assembly yesterday, June 17, the governor ascribed the victory of the PDP in the April 11  Rivers gubernatorial election to the cordial relationship the party formed with the people at the grassroots.

The governor according to The Sun, said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) performed baldy in the election because they adopted the faulty strategy of using money to spread negative campaigns against his party

He accused the APC of trying to employ intimidation to truncate the mandate given to him by the people.

Meanwhile, Governor Wike is set to sack over 13,200 workers employed by the former governor of the state, Chibuike Amaechi.

The Rivers state government alleges that the board of the State Civil Service Commission were illegally employing workers into the service during the past administration of Rotimi Amaechi.
