Five on trial for stealing 10 bottles of soft drinks

“The five employees of Coca-Cola allegedly added the bottles to a loaded truck.”

Five workers of Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Ilorin, Kwara State, were on Tuesday arraigned before a Magistrate Court for stealing 10 bottles of soft drinks.

The accused persons were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft, which contravened Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code Law.

The Police Prosecutor, Adams Aliu, said in his First Information Report (FIR) that the accused persons were arrested by Ogbuenyi James, a security guard of the company.

He said that the accused: Shittu Ahamed, Yusuf Alao, Aina Mayowa, Abdulrasaki Moyo, and Alayande Micheal conspired together and stole the said goods, which they added to a vehicle already loaded.

Aliu told the court that investigation was still ongoing and urged the court to use its discretion in granting bail to the acccused.

The Magistrate, Silifat Sambo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N5, 000 with one surety each, and adjourned the case to September 15 for hearing.
