In America, Woman Finds Snake Head In A Can Of Green Beans (Photos)
NigeriaTrends.com — Not all that glitters is gold, and Nigerians living in America ought to watch what they eat. Shocking news of a Utah woman who found a severed snake head in a can of green beans have been trending lately. The disturbing news has been covered by Fox News, NY Daily News, Huffington Post and a host of others.
According to reports, a woman by the name Troy Walker had been cooking for a large group of teens at a Farmington, Utah Mormon church Wednesday night and was taking the green beans out of a slow cooker when she made the disgusting discovery.
“It looked pretty much like a burnt bean, and then as I got closer to lift it off the spoon, I saw the eyes,” Troy Walker said.
Walker said she dropped the beans and screamed when she saw the snake’s eyes. The beans came from a can of Western Family Fancy Green Beans.
She then snapped a picture of the snake’s head to send-in to Western Family brand, the Oregon-based green bean company. She also returned to the store where she bought the beans and received a full refund on all 30 cans she bought.
The Oregon-based company said it was investigating the bizarre discovery and as a precautionary measure, it has suspended shipments of beans from the same batch.
“At this point, the product is on hold at the wholesale level. As soon as we know something like this, we stop all shipments until we know what’s going on with the foreign material,” Pete Craven, Western Family’s chief financial officer, told local network KSL.com.
“Foreign matter is not something we take lightly. We want to know what it is, and we will immediately research and do any level of correction as we can.”
From a close look at the snake picture, it looks like a Garter Snake which is considered a non-venomous snake that is often kept as pet in the U.S and Canada.
Walker and other youth leaders at the church threw out all the green beans, although she said some of the teenagers thought it was “kind of cool and fun.”
One question still remains: Where’s the snake’s body?
