Group partners FRSC to curb accidents

WORRIED by the increasing rate of accidents on Nigerian highways, the Nigerian Driver Orientation and Development Programme (NDOADP) is partnering the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to ensure safety and reduce fatalities to the barest minimum.

The group, with sponsorship from the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (UNDARS) is also working in collaboration with other road transport agencies, civil society organisations, governors, the National Assembly and ministers.

An official of NDOADP, Dr. Anthony Oghomi who spoke with journalists in Lagos lamented that road traffic deaths place a huge burden on the nation’s economy.

Dr. Temp Gold, initiator of the group, said: “If Nigeria is to emerge as a developed country, it is important that it meets her road safety challenges. It is not just introducing traffic signs on the streets. It is more important to train the drivers on proper driving etiquette,” he said.
