“The duo were granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.”
A housewife and a student were, on Friday, charged to court for allegedly stabbing a woman and her son with broken bottles and throwing stones at them.
The accused, Tomori Oluwa (53) and Fatimo Olawale (20), were charged before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for conspiracy, assault and causing damage to property.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Olaide, told the court that the offences were committed on August 11 at 36 Makinde Street, Surulere.
He said that the duo engaged Lizzy Eziege and her son, Emmanuel, in an argument.
“The accused used broken bottles to stab both Ezieges and threw stones at them, causing grievous harm on the side of their left eyes,” he said.
Olaide added that the duo also damaged the complainants’ belongings and spilled their pot of soup, all valued at N30, 000.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 355, 451, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The Chief Magistrate, Abiola Sholadoye, granted the duo bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, who is gainfully employed and the other, a community leader.
