Niger Delta militants embrace peace, seek spiritual help

THE leadership of Niger Delta Liberation force (NDLF), a splinter group of the mainstream Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) may have gone spiritual as the organisation has taken its problems to Prophet T.B Joshua of Synagogue Church of All Nations to intercede on behalf of the long suffering people of the Niger Delta.

In a letter addressed to Joshua, spokesman of NDLF, Capt. Mark Anthony said that after so much killing and bloodletting, the group has decided to embrace God for positive changes in the region without further bloodshed.

Having exhausted all physical powers within its reach with arms to draw the Federal Government’s attention to the underdevelopment of the resource-rich Niger Delta without success, Anthony said that the militant group decided to go spiritual.

He lamented that the region which sustains the nation’s economy with her oil and gas deposits but ironically is virtually in darkness and squalor, lost hundreds of lives during the arms agitation by the militants.

According to the image maker, the decision was reached after exhaustive consultations with many stakeholders.

“We want Prophet T.B Joshua to pray for President Goodluck Jonathan to rule the nation with authority and power, vision and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation. We recognize and believe strongly in Prophet T.B Joshua as a genuine man of God who God uses to solve problems of mankind in this generation. We equally appreciate his humanitarian services to the less privileged ones across the nation,” he said.
