The denial followed a newspaper report (not the Vanguard) that Obasanjo had written to the Presidency to  remove the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and heads of four other key agencies in the country.

Addressing newsmen at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos, President Obasanjo  explained that he had at no point in time written to the President on the issue adding that the only time he wrote the President was on the issue that had to do with honours and awards last year.

“I haven’t written to the President since his inauguration” he affirmed.

He however noted that the only time that he wrote to President Jonathan was last year concerning the honours and awards that should be given to some Nigerians that deserved it.

“I wrote to him last year on honours and awards for some Nigerians. So if any paper had written that it is a figment of their imagination and I will refer it to my lawyer and they will hear from my lawyer” he stressed.

Asked about the security situation  in the country, Obasanjo said” it must be the concern of all of us. It is my own concern as a Nigerian because without security in the country then there isn’t much we can do. So there is need for peace and security for development and progress to be made”

The Ex President came to the airport about 10:00am and depart aboard a private jet with registration number N169SD Golf Stream.
