Thunder Kills 3 In Delta State
Three persons were reportedly killed and several others injured yesterday, following the thunder storm which struck in Obiaruku, Delta State.
Reports said the incident left the residents in shock as the three persons were struck down during the heavy storm while left others within the vicinity injured.
Leadership gathered that the rains which started early April has destroyed over thirty houses across the state.
Sources said the thunder, accompanied with heavy rain, began when the victims rushed outside to pick some mango fruits that fell from a tree within their premises, a situation that led to their untimely death.
Injured persons are said to have been taken to nearby clinic where they are at present receiving treatments.
Families of the victims, who spoke to journalists in the area expressed shock over the incident, adding that the situation meets more than the eyes.
Only two weeks ago, two female students were allegedly struck down by a thunder strike after a heavy down pour in Agbor.
The two students were reportedly said to have been going to school when the unexpected happened. Victims of the Obiaruku’s thunder strike were said to be from ages 11, 12 and 13 years from three different families who played together as friends.
But unconfirmed sources said the victims’ death may not be unconnected with homosexual acts allegedly perpetrated by some youths against the gods of the lands.
