The health situation of veteran Rastafarian singer, Majekodunmi Fashakin popularly known as Majek Fashek is getting more deteriorating by the day, one cannot really point out where he needs care as he always appear untidy and roam the streets of Lagos.

One of his former back-up singer who has had the opportunity of going on tour of Africa countries and abroad as a teenager with him, Monica Omorodion Swaida has just launched a rehabilitative campaign to help the troubled Fashek.

Speaking with Qed.ng, Monica a Massachusetts, USA based friend to Majek’s wife Rita disclosed that

I am doing this for them. They treated me like a kid sister when I needed them. Our fight right now is to raise money so that we can send him to a home that can help him. Apart from his alcoholism, he has spiritual and mental issues to go with it.”

She further stated the international recognitions Majek has had,  “I played on stage with Majek last in NYC. Majek was compared to the late Icon Bob Marley. He was one of the greatest singer and guitarist in Nigeria. Majek put Nigeria on the map when it comes to music.

She finally stated how terrible Majek situation is now and how he needs immediate attention “Today, Majek is seen in the streets of Lagos looking for petty change to buy food and drinks. Majek looks sickly and fray. He is looking haggard! How can a national hero be left on the street like that? We must do something to take care of this man. No matter the problems majek has, whether  drugs related, Spiritual , or mental related problems, it doesn’t matter.”

About a year ago, Majek admitted that he is under spiritual attack.
