Abia begins free screening, treatment of diseases

A THREE-DAY free screening and treatment of non-communicable diseases has begun in Abia State.

The programme was a partnership by the state Ministry of Health, office of the state governor’s wife Chief Odochi Orji and a United States-based Imaging Consultants headed by Mr. Chima Chukwu.

About 10,0000 persons are expected to benefit from the ongoing exercise scheduled to hold in each of the three senatorial districts of the state namely Umuahia (Abia Central), Aba (Abia South) and Ohafia (Abia North).

Speaking during the commencement at Amachara Specialist Hospital, Umuahia, the governor’s wife said that the initiative was a continuation of a series of public private health initiatives embarked upon by the state government in line with its commitment to an optimal health policy of ensuring good health for all Abia residents.
