Anambra probes discovery of bodies

Peter-ObiANAMBRA State Governor Peter Obi has ordered an investigation into the discovery of some bodies in Ezu River in the border town of Amansea in Awka North Local Council Area of the state. The Ezu River is at the border between Enugu and Anambra states.

Obi who was briefed on telephone on Saturday about the incident while in the United Kingdom, quickly cut short his trip and arrived in the state Sunday morning, and visited the scene immediately.

Commenting on the development, Obi said: “The fact that River Ezu flows into Anambra State from another state, shows these corpses obviously floated from elsewhere into our state. As you can see, the bodies are already decomposing and this shows that this incident happened some time ago.

“I do not care where they (the bodies) floated from, I am worried that this type of scenario could be witnessed in our country in this age and time.”

Obi has already contacted the Acting Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, asking him to embark on a thorough investigation into this strange occurrence. He assured that the Anambra State government had already begun a painstaking probe into the matter.

To facilitate the investigation, Obi has announced an offer of N5 million to anyone who provides necessary information, which will help in unravelling the circumstances of this strange incident.
