Bayelsa CNPP faults Dickson on Sylva’s rating

POLITICIANS in Bayelsa State, under the aegis of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), yesterday described as a “distraction” and “playing to the gallery” the poor rating of the former governor, Timipre Sylva and the on-going recovery of official vehicles of immediate past political appointees in the state by Governor Seriake Dickson.

They asked the present administration to focus on fulfilling promised restoration and development plan in the state.

Governor Dickson had recently announced that preliminary investigations into the policies and contract awards by Sylva showed a season of wastage of state funds and that his administration was poised to taking decisions that would streamline spending and save fund for accelerated development plan.

The alleged poor spending culture and debt profile has led leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and a group, Bayelsa Action Committee for Justice (BACJ), to call for independent probe into the finances of the state over claims by Dickson that he inherited an empty treasury and a huge debt profile.
