Cross River Destroys Illegal Structures

THE Cross River State government, just like its counterparts in Rivers and Lagos states, has commenced the demolition of illegal structures in the state.

Chairman of the Ministry’s Task Force on Development and Environmental control, Wing Commander Lupata Okputu (Rtd), on behalf of the State Ministry of Environment said the state government would not rest on its oars until all occupants of illegal structures in the metropolis are vacated.

This, he pointed out is to ensure that residents comply with Town Planning and Environmental Laws of the state as he led the team on a demolition exercise of illegal structures at Esuk Utan Depot in Calabar recently.

Okputu explained that having given the occupants of the area prior notice of over one month, and one week reminder to vacate the area, the Ministry had no choice than to demolish the illegal structures in the area which the state government has set aside as green areas.
