FG, Kano partner on clean environment

THE Federal Ministry of Environment and its partners have launched the “Less burnt for a clean earth project” in Kano.

The community-based campaign on waste sorting and composting is driven by the management unit of the ministry, in collaboration with a Kano’s Centre for Education and the state’s Ministry of Environment.

It is aimed at enlightening the public on waste sorting and disposal.

The project’s Programme Officer, Mallam Salisu Umar, said Kano and Anambra states had been selected for the pilot stage where the public would be introduced to the use of three waste bins in different colours of brown, blue and green for proper sorting of refuse in households.

Augustina Salami, who is the project officer, said the scheme is supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
