Fuel Tanker Disasters: Ambode Holds Emergency Meeting With Tanker Drivers (Photos)

The rise in petrol tanker disasters have prompted Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to summon an emergency meeting with tanker drivers.

The meeting, which was conveyed yesterday June 8, also had in attendance officials of the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Fire Service among others.

In recent times, several lives and properties have been lost as a result of petrol tanker accidents. on Tuesday, June 2, an explosion from a petrol tanker at Iyana Ipaja destroyed houses worth millions of naira.

Another tanker crash occurred in Lagos on Sunday, June 7, after a petrol laden truck overturned in front of Oribawa bus stop on Lekki-Epe expressway and spilled its contents.

In another development Vice President Yemi Osinbajo commiserated with the people and government of Anambra state over a fuel tanker accident, which claimed over 50 lives at Upper Iweka in Onitsha.

Addressing the crowd that gathered around the scene of the accident, Osinbajo said that he had discussed with Governor Obiano on possible ways the Federal Government and Anambra government could cooperate to prevent further accidents.
