Minister Commissions Nigeria Prisons Special Car Scheme

MINISTER of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has launched the second part of the Nigeria Prisons Service staff special car welfare scheme during which he commissioned 525 cars for the use ofstaff  of  the service.

Speaking at the event at Prisons Training College, Kirikiri, Lagos on Thursday, the minister said the scheme was in agreement with the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

He further stated tha t the scheme was designed to boost the morale of the officers and men of the Nigerian Prisons Service and meet their logistical needs.

“Anything that will make your job easier and also enhance your performance level is the primary concern of this administration. Indeed, the challenges faced by the prisons officers are such that should elicit support in whatever form and we are determined to meet these challenges within the limits of available resources,” he said.

Speaking further, Moro urged the beneficiaries to see the project as a life-line and not as an opportunity for merchandising. He also implored them to show greater commitment and dedication to their job and reciprocate the kind gesture with good conduct.

“This is a time for more vigilance and alertness. Mr. President will not tolerate indolence. This is a time that our might is being tested; this is the time to show that we are equal to the security challenges that have enveloped us of late. Mr. President therefore demands that we meet those challenges and rise above the present situation,” Moro said.
