N’Assembly: APC, PDP To Settle Differences

The current crisis at the National Assembly after recent leadership elections may soon become a thing of the past. This was confirmed as members of the two leading political parties in Nigeria the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People‘s Democratic Party (PDP) called for unity among party members.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Honourable Yakubu Dogara promised that the house will soon be united “like i have said we are going to run a united house, it will never be a case of winner takes all. Our colleagues will have an opportunity to shine. Everyone of us who is a star will be given the opportunity to display the kind of light we have. We will not have a divided house” said Dogara.

Also in an interview with Channels TV this morning, Honourable Tijani Yusuf a PDP chieftain and member of the house explained that his party is more concerned about the unity of the house. In his words, “the PDP is magnanimous. Infact it would have been a different ball game if we were the ruling party. By now, we would have settled to work”.

On the other hand Mr. Oladimeji Fabiyi a staunch member of the APC encouraged all members to put Nigeria first. He lamented the broil existing at the National Assembly and called for a quick and amicable resolution to the situation.

This matter should be resolved amicably. APC is ready for governance. Since Buhari took over, people have seen his readiness and the direction he wants to follow. He was in Germany for the G7 summit, he was applauded”. Said Fabiyi.

However, Fabiyi disagreed that the major yardstick for the problem in the National Assembly is because members are from different political parties. According to him, “for me, even when you have the totality of the members from a party, there are still issues. I support a well organized opposition”

“Nigerians should be grateful to Bukola saraki who is a member of my party. Right now, there is nothing anyone could do. What we need now is to join hands with Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara. When the APC was an opposition, we supported the PDP.

“If you looked at the Deputy Senate Presidency Elections, Ekweremadu had over 50 votes and this shows it worked along with the party lines. Jonathan considered defeat because it is about Nigeria. Buhari accepted because he put Nigeria first”.
