NNPC, Mobil spend N2b on education in Akwa Ibom

THE Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) joint venture has in the past five years spent over N2 billion on training and boosting various educational development in Akwa Ibom State.

This was revealed by the Executive Director of MPN, Mrs. Gloria Essien-Danner, during the closing ceremony of 2012 NNPC/MPN JV Science Quiz competition for secondary schools in the state at the weekend.

“Over the last years, the NNPC/MPN Joint Venture has spent over N2 billion on education in Akwa Ibom State and will continue to partner with the state to take education to greater height”, she said.

Essien-Danner, who was represented by Emmanuel George Akpan, expressed the company’s appreciation to Governor Godswill Akpabio for his support to MPN, the operator of NNPC/MPN joint venture.

According to her, the government has created a peaceful and conducive environment for them to operate, promising that the company would continue to support the people of the state as a sign of responsive corporate citizen, which the joint venture represents.
