NUPENG Suspends Strike

THE Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its solidarity strike against non-payment of subsidy funds to the importers of petroleum products.

Briefing Journalists yesterday in Port Harcourt, its National Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bassey Harry, said the union decided to suspend the four-day strike following agreements reached between the Federal Government, the  leadership of NUPENG  and  the officials of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) .

Harry explained that the Federal Government in the agreement accepted to commence payment of subsidy funds to the Jetty and Tanker Farm Owners immediately which was the sole reason the union went on strike.
