OAU tasks new students on studies

NEWLY admitted students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, have been urged to refrain from any unruly behaviour capable of leading to the closure of the university and consequently extend their stay in the school.

This year’s matriculation was unique as a septuagenarian and retired Colonel, Layiwola Aderemi Asegunju, was among 5,000 students who gained admission to study law at the university.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Bamitale Omole, asked the students to refrain from untoward conduct that might hamper academic activities.

Omole, who was elated presiding over his first matriculation ceremony and the 50th one for the university since he assumed office as the VC about 10 months ago, stated that the students were his own symbolic “first born”.
