Orji pledges better deal for Abia

GOVERNOR Theodore Orji of Abia State has restated his determination to serve the people better for giving him a second chance to run the affairs of the state.

Orji made the promise in Umuahia at the weekend when he commissioned three roads designed to ease movement to and from the state capital.

He said: “I promised the people of Abia State to do what is best for them during this second term and I will not let you down.

“My main objective is to go down in the history of the state as one who finally understood what needed to be done for the electorate and had the self-discipline and resolve to move above selfish considerations to reach the objectives and lay the sustainable foundation for others to follow”.

The highways are the World Bank Estate-Agbama, Umuafai-Lodu and Ahiaeke-Isieke roads, where commuters pay higher transport fares due to their bad state.

The governor added that the “building of new roads and re-building of old ones are key to our infrastructural development drive and we are, despite the early rains, pursuing with vigour on-going road construction in the three senatorial zones and other places where our contractors have been duly mobilised”.
