Conjoined twins, who were joint at the hip and at the bottom of the spine, underwent a five-hour long operation, which included separating the bottom of the spine and rebuilding the anal canal.

The surgery became possible due to 3D printing technology with the help of which medics created life-sized spinal and hip models and simulated the operation beforehand. It is believed to be the first operation of its kind ever performed.

Doctors say they expect the three-months-old babies will be able to leave the intensive care unit in three days and discharged from hospital in two weeks.
