President Buhari To Take Part In Another International Summit

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is set to visit South Africa for the African Union summit.

Uche Ajulu-Okeke, Nigeria’s Consul General in South Africa, informed that everything is ready for Buhari’s arrival.

“It is normal for every president who goes to a foreign country for the first time to look for his primary constituents, the Nigerian community in that country.

“In line with this tradition, Mr President being the chief servant for Nigeria, is coming to South Africa to attend the African Union Summit and he will seize the opportunity to make out time from his hectic schedule to address his primary constituents,” the ambassador said.

She added that the consulate would host the meeting between the Nigerian community and the president.

Ajulu-Okeke said all required preparations had been made to enable Buhari’s visit to South Africa was smooth.

Ikechukwu Anyene, the president of the Nigerian Union, South Africa, also said Nigerians in the nine provinces of neighbouring country had been mobilized to receive Nigerian leader during his trip.

“The Nigerian Union has been mobilising our people to come and receive President Buhari. We are aware he will be in South Africa to attend the African Union Summit.

“It is an opportunity for Nigerians resident in South Africa to meet our new president for the first time and we are eagerly awaiting the visit,” he said.

The theme of the Summit, which will be hold between June 13-15 is: “Year of Women Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063.”

President Buhari has just recently returned from G7 summit in Germany.

It should be noted that the world leaders vowed all means of support to Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency, which was one of the top issues discussed at the meeting.

G7 leaders held a special session on countering extremism in Africa and the Middle East.
