Reuben out to douse Kenya

Super Eagles’ midfielder, Gabriel Reuben has confirmed to supersport.com his desire to face the Harambee Stars of Kenya in next month’s 2014 World Cup qualifying game.

The encounter between the new African champions, Nigeria and Kenya will be decided at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on March 23.

Reuben, 22, would now want his teammates to put behind them their scintillating performance that saw them win the 2013 AFCON in South Africa and focus on their Kenyan counterparts.

“The 2013 Nations Cup was my first tournament with the Super Eagles, and I thank God that my name was among those that entered Nigeria’s history book of success.

“Now that we are the champions of Africa, we would no longer find it easy against any opponents but I strongly believe that we would qualify for the World Cup in Brazil,” said the Kano Pillars’ midfield maestro to supersport.com.

The erstwhile Enyimba star was among the six home-based players who were taken to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations by the Super Eagles’ gaffer, Stephen Keshi.

The Super Eagles, at present, top Group F of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification on four points after beating Namibia 1-0 and forcing Malawi to a 1-1 draw in Blantyre in June 2012.
