Road crash claim six lives in Zamfara state

AT least six people lost their lives yesterday in a motor accident along Gusau-Magami road in Gusau Local Council Area of Zamfara State while 28 others were hospitalised.

The accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control and veered into a bush.

A survivor of the accident, who spoke with The Guardian at Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, said the vehicle, which took off from Bodinga Town in Sokoto State, was heading for Dankurmi Market in Maru Local Council Area in Zamfara State, for weekly trading activities.

He said the vehicle was carrying about 40 passengers, adding that only three of the passengers did not sustain any injury.

According to him, the deceased include five men and one woman, adding that all the corpses were deposited at the Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Gusau.

The Chief Nursing Officer on duty at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the centre, Umar Idris Gusau, confirmed the death of the six persons and admission of 28 passengers who sustained various degrees of injury.
