Salami, Egwuekwe out of Sunshine tie

Warri Wolves will meet Sunshine Stars today without the services of Gbolahan Salami who is expected to miss the Glo Premier League Week 12 tie due to suspension.

Salami who is in the best form of his life presently got his second caution of the season against Kano Pillars after he was yellow carded for pulling off his shirt during the celebration of his goal against Sai Masugida.

He didn’t travel with the team to Akure because he is ineligible to play the match but he would be available when Wolves face Enugu Rangers in a Week 13 tie this weekend.

The Media Officer of the club, Moses Etu told SportingLife that the Seasiders’ 18 players and technical crew left for Akure yesterday morning and that they are in high spirits to face the Akure Gunners. He also confirmed that team captain, Azubuike Egwuekwe would also be missing from the players that will face Sunshine as he is yet to recover from malaria fever that ruled him out of the Kano Pillars match.

Egwuekwe’s last game was the ill-fated CAF Confederation Cup play off round where Warri Wolves were beaten by AC Leopards of Congo 4-3 on aggregate after he was responsible for the own goal his side conceded during the second leg tie. The goal later proved to be their albatross and a place in the group stage.
