Saraki, man of honour, says Babangida

SARAKI-2FORMER military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has described the late political icon and Waziri of Ilorin, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, as a man of honour and dignity.

Speaking in Hausa when he paid a condolence visit to the Sarakis in Ilorin Monday, Babangida urged Nigerian leaders to always involve in good deeds, adding that it was the best one could be remembered for.

“Waziri’s death is not only a loss to people of Ilorin alone but to Nigerians at large. He touched so many lives. In fact, I’m a beneficiary of the late Saraki’s humour. He tried so much.

The former military leader, who was accompanied by Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Baba Gana Kingibe said: “Saraki has come to this life, we saw what he did, people talked about his deeds and it is my believe that with these testimonies, God will grant him eternal rest.”

The immediate past acting national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, who gave the votes of thanks on behalf of the Saraki’s family described the two former military Heads of State as great men of honour.

Some of the dignitaries who also paid condolence visit to Illofa residence of the late politician included former head of state, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, former ANPP national chairman, Yusuf Ali, and former EFCC boss, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
