Scholarships for Lagos pupils

A SCHOLARSHIP scheme for outstanding pupils of public and private schools in Lagos State has been initiated by Lagooz College, Agege.

The benefactor and Chief Executive Officer of the school, Yomi Otubela, who unveiled the scheme to journalists in Lagos, said the application forms were free and obtainable at the college or online.

To qualify for the scholarships, candidates must score a minimum of 70 per cent in each of the subjects they took during the first and second term examinations for 2011/2012 session.

Otubela said selected candidates would be given the option to be day or boarding pupils, but must submit their birth certificates and originals of their report cards to the head teacher’s office.

He said the candidates would be tested in English Language, Mathematics, General Paper, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Accounts and Literature amongst others on August 18, 2012 while the results would be published on the school’s notice board and website.

Otubela said he initiated the scheme to contribute to the development of the education sector in Lagos and Nigeria and to stimulate the spirit of academic competition among primary and secondary school pupils.
