Suswam advises Benue politicians on parties

BENUE Governor Gabriel Suswam has urged politicians in the state to view other political parties as platforms they could use to attain power to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

Suswam gave the advice on Sunday at Konshisha Local Council Area during a thanksgiving service in honour of the senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Barnabas Gemade.

The governor, who stressed that he was the governor of the entire Benue, pledged to continue to ensure good governance that would boost development in the state.

He expressed delight with the presence of Senator George Akume (ACN) and the party’s governorship candidate in the last general election, Prof. Steven Ugbah, at the thanksgiving service, noting that it was the road to the return of peace and harmony in the state.

Suswam maintained that as the chief executive officer of the state, he would soon convene a meeting of prominent sons and daughters of Tiv extraction to chart the way forward, adding that there would be no progress in the face of disunity among the people.

Earlier in a sermon, Rev. T.T. Aduena advised Christians occupying important positions in the society to always be in touch with their people so as to appreciate their yearnings and de-emphasise self-aggrandisement.
