Teachers’ summit holds in Kaduna

THE National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna, holds its third summit and second graduation and awards ceremony on Thursday.

The three-day event (November 8-10, 2012) at the institute’s headquarters in Kaduna, is to commemorate its 35th anniversary.

It is expected to attract 41 eminent Nigerian and foreign professors and educationists who will speak on education related policies.

NTI Director-General and Chief Executive, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, in a statement, said the President of Common Wealth of Learning (COL), Canada, Professor Asha Kanwar, one of the world’s leading advocates for learning for development as well as Governors Rochas Okorocha (Imo State) and Ibrahim Shema (Katsina) will be decorated with the institute’s fellowship awards.

Some governors, well-meaning Nigerians and notable corporate bodies will be invested with the Institute’s outstanding education awards   for their contributions to education and teachers’ capacity enhancement.

They include Governors Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa (Kaduna) and Sule Lamido (Jigawa).

The Minister for Education, Professor Rukayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i and Minister of State for Education, Chief Ezenwo Nyensom Wike are guests of honour.

Also royal fathers of the day are the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris,  and Oba of Lagos Riliwan Akiolu I.
